One of Canada’s most recognized coffee traditions is making a full comeback. Tim Hortons has announced that its Roll Up To Win contest returns on February 23, celebrating 40 years of the popular promotion.

This year, customers can once again roll up the rim on their hot beverage cups to see if they have won — a tradition many Canadians remember fondly. Guests can also continue playing digitally through the Tims app.

“For decades, Canadians looked forward every spring to Rolling Up The Rim of their coffee cups at Tims and we always heard they loved the tradition of winning a free coffee – a little thing that could make their day – as well as the chance of winning a grand prize like a new car,” said Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons.

“When we brought Rolling Up The Rim back last spring, the response was incredible and we were reminded how important this iconic Tims tradition is for our guests. So, we're thrilled to share that Rolling Up The Rim of our cups is coming back – starting on Feb. 23 – and not just for this year, but for years to come.”

Millions of Prizes Up for Grabs

This year’s contest offers more than 30 million prizes. Among them are seven 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz vehicles, vacation packages, VIP experiences, electronics, gift cards, and cash prizes. Customers can also win more than eight million donuts and over 17 million coffees.

Some of the larger prizes include an all-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz, a seven-night all-inclusive vacation for two, VIP experiences at sporting events and entertainment shows, and a wide range of home electronics and gift cards.

How to Play

Customers can receive special Roll Up To Win cups with eligible hot beverage purchases while supplies last. By rolling up the rim, they can instantly see if they have won.

Members of Tims Rewards can earn digital rolls in several ways between February 23 and March 22. They receive one digital roll for eligible beverage and food purchases when they scan their rewards account. Those who order through the app or use delivery services earn double digital rolls.

Customers who bring their own reusable cup and scan their rewards account receive an extra digital roll. Members can also earn rolls by purchasing select Tim Hortons retail products in restaurants or grocery stores and submitting valid receipts.

All digital rolls must be revealed by April 3, 2026.

A Tradition That Continues

The return of physical cup rolls marks a shift back to a hands-on experience many Canadians missed. The company confirmed that rolling up the rim on cups will remain part of future contests, not just this year’s anniversary celebration.

The contest runs until March 22, 2026, or until supplies of promotional cups run out. It is open to Canadian residents aged 13 and older, with certain age requirements in Quebec. A skill-testing question applies to prize winners.

With millions of prizes and both digital and traditional ways to play, this year’s Roll Up To Win aims to blend nostalgia with modern convenience — keeping a Canadian favourite alive for years to come.
