Did you miss the Blueberry Fritters?

Toronto— Canadians longing for the return of classic Tim Hortons treats, like blueberry fritters, cinnamon sugar twists, and walnut crunch doughnuts, are in luck. Tim Hortons announced on Tuesday that these three retro favorites, along with the iconic Dutchie, will make a limited-time comeback, starting January 10, across all Tim Hortons locations in Canada.

This revival is part of Tim Hortons' celebration of its 60th anniversary, which is on May 17. The chain, owned by Restaurant Brands International, plans to honor its history while looking towards the future throughout the anniversary year, according to Hope Bagozzi, Chief Marketing Officer at Tim Hortons.

In addition to the return of the retro doughnuts, Tim Hortons has more surprises in store. The omelette bites, first introduced in 2019 to diversify the breakfast menu, will make a comeback on January 8, featuring bacon and egg white as well as spinach varieties.

Tim Hortons is also expanding its menu with the addition of sweet chili chicken wraps and bowls, part of the company's ongoing effort to boost sales and market share during the afternoon and evening hours.

However, conquering later dining hours poses a challenge for Tim Hortons, which has traditionally been associated with breakfast and snacks. The company faces fierce competition from established fast-food brands like McDonald's, Wendy's, Harvey's, and newer entrants like Jollibee, Dave's Hot Chicken, Blaze Pizza, and Chick-fil-A in the Canadian market.

The competition will further intensify with the entry of Shake Shack, as private investment firms Osmington Inc. and Harlo Entertainment Inc. announced plans to bring the popular burger and milkshake chain to Canada in 2024, aiming to open 35 locations across the country by 2035.
