Tim Hortons is getting ready for National Coffee Day by bringing back some of its most iconic cup designs. The brand launched four limited-edition vintage cups this week, just in time for the national celebration on September 29.
These cups feature looks from the 1960s, 1980s, and two styles from the 2010s. They’ll be available at locations across Canada, but only while supplies last. The cups will be handed out at random, making each visit a bit of a surprise for coffee lovers.
A Nod to the Past
Tim Hortons’ Chief Marketing Officer, Hope Bagozzi, shared the excitement about the release.
"We're proud that millions of Canadians have started their day with their favourite coffee, made with the same secret recipe since 1964. We're so excited to showcase some iconic designs from the past with our National Coffee Day cup collection," she said.
She added that the vintage cups offer guests a “trip down memory lane,” and expects that many might try to collect all four.
Free Coffee Offer for Rewards Members
Along with the retro cup launch, Tim Hortons is offering a special deal for Tims Rewards members.
Starting September 29 until October 4, those who use their Tims Rewards app and buy four brewed coffees (on separate visits) will earn a free coffee.
Members must scan their app each time to qualify. Once they’ve bought four coffees, they’ll receive 400 Tims Rewards points—enough for one free brewed coffee on a future visit.
The offer applies to hot brewed coffee only and is limited to app users who are signed up for the Tims Rewards program.
Collectible Cups Add to the Fun
With the four retro designs, each cup reflects a different era in Tim Hortons' history. The 1960s design reminds customers of the brand’s early years. The 1980s version brings back a bolder look. The 2010s cups show off styles that many guests may still remember.
Since the cups are randomly handed out, there’s an element of surprise with each order. Some fans might return more than once in hopes of getting every design.
National Coffee Day Grows in Popularity
National Coffee Day, marked every year on September 29, continues to grow in popularity across Canada. For many Canadians, coffee is more than just a drink—it’s part of their daily routine. Tim Hortons' celebration gives fans a reason to enjoy their favourite cup even more.
