Tom Felton is heading back to the magical world that made him a household name. This winter, he’s stepping into his iconic role as Draco Malfoy — not on a movie set, but live on stage in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The Harry Potter alum will make his much-anticipated Broadway debut at New York’s Lyric Theatre starting November 11. His run will continue through March 22, 2026.
A Magical Full-Circle Moment
Now 37, Felton is exactly the same age as Draco Malfoy in the play. Reflecting on the opportunity, he called the role a “full-circle moment.”
“Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Felton shared in a statement. “Joining this production feels incredibly special.”
For fans, it’s a rare chance to see an original cast member return to the wizarding world — this time, live and in person.
From Screen Nemesis to Stage Father
In the books and films, Malfoy was Harry Potter’s arrogant school rival. But in Cursed Child, the story shifts to a new generation.
Set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the play follows Harry’s son, Albus, who unexpectedly bonds with Draco’s son, Scorpius, at Hogwarts.
The dynamic shows a matured Draco, offering Felton a fresh take on the character fans once loved to hate.
Breaking New Ground for the Franchise
Felton’s casting is a landmark moment for the Cursed Child production. He becomes the first actor from the original movie series to join the stage version.
The move blends nostalgia with innovation — giving longtime fans a powerful new reason to see the Broadway show.
Felton’s Theatre Journey So Far
Though this marks his Broadway debut, Tom Felton is no stranger to the stage.
He made his West End debut in 2022, starring in the supernatural thriller 2:22 A Ghost Story. In 2024, he took on a lead role in A Child of Science at the Bristol Old Vic, written by Gareth Farr.
Beyond the Wizarding World
Felton has also kept busy in film. He starred in the thriller They Will Kill You, alongside Patricia Arquette, and joined Damian Lewis in the comedy Fackham Hall.
His return to Harry Potter promises a compelling blend of experience, nostalgia, and new depth.
Curtain Call for the Slytherin Star
Felton’s arrival brings a wave of excitement to Cursed Child, already a major success on Broadway. With his return, fans can expect a spellbinding performance and a deeper glimpse into Draco Malfoy’s post-Hogwarts life.
For Potterheads, this isn’t just a casting update — it’s a magical event, nearly two decades in the making.
