Health officials have announced a recall for two types of Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate bars after small stones were discovered in some of the products. The recall was shared in a national warning by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) on Thursday.
The CFIA is telling people not to eat, sell, or give away these bars. The two chocolate bars affected by the recall are:
- Tony’s Chocolonely Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt (180g)
Code: Mar / 02 / 2026 L162697
UPC: 8 50051 89750 6 - Tony’s Chocolonely Everything Bar (180g)
Code: Nov / 27 / 2025 L4332
UPC: 8 50051 89752 0
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also issued a similar recall for these products. According to their notice, the bars might have small stones inside. The chocolate company voluntarily began the recall after they received 12 reports of stones found in the bars.
The issue appears to have started during almond harvesting and processing. A third-party company handled this process, but the stones were not properly filtered out.
So far, no one has been hurt, and all reports of stones came from countries other than Canada or the U.S.
Even though no injuries have been reported, health officials want people to stay safe and check their chocolate bars. If anyone has these products at home, they should stop using them right away.
People who want more details can contact the CFIA by calling 1-800-442-2342. They can also send questions by email to: [email protected].
Both Canadian and American food safety teams are working together to manage the recall. They want to make sure consumers know which products are affected. The chocolate bars are popular, so they’re warning people to check their kitchens and remove any recalled bars.
Retail stores and sellers must also stop selling the recalled items right away. Officials ask all distributors and retailers to remove the bars from their shelves to protect customers.
The recall shows how careful people need to be about food safety. Even small mistakes during food production can lead to big problems if not caught early.
This recall does not mean all Tony’s Chocolonely products are unsafe. Only the specific bars listed are involved. If a product has a different UPC or code, it is not affected by this recall.
This situation also shows the importance of quality checks when using ingredients like almonds. Even third-party processing must follow high standards to avoid risks like this.
Consumers should stay alert for any further updates. Officials will share more news if anything changes or if more products are recalled.
