The Toronto International Film Festival is set to showcase a range of exciting homegrown content this year, including a highly anticipated docuseries about The Tragically Hip and new film shorts from acclaimed Oscar winner Torill Kove and actor Connor Jessup.

One of the highlights is the world premiere of “The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal,” a four-part docuseries that will be available on Prime Video. Directed by Mike Downie, the brother of the late bandleader Gord Downie, the series has been eagerly awaited since its announcement in 2022.

The festival’s Primetime program also features “The Knowing,” a project from Indigenous creators Courtney Montour and Tanya Talaga, as well as “Disclaimer,” a thriller from Alfonso Cuarón available on Apple TV Plus, starring Cate Blanchett. British director Joe Wright will present his biopic of Benito Mussolini, “M. Son of the Century.”

In addition to the offerings from Jessup and Kove, the Short Cuts lineup includes films from U.S. actress Dakota Johnson and a project by Arshile Khanjian Egoyan, son of the renowned Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan.
