Mike Smith, widely known as Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault in Halifax. The allegations reportedly date back to December 2017.

Halifax Regional Police filed the charge on October 2, according to court documents in Nova Scotia’s provincial court. Details of the alleged assault have not been made public.

The actor, 53, has not responded to requests for comment. His lawyer, as well as the show’s agent and manager, also remained unavailable.

Stepping Away From Trailer Park Boys Leadership

Trailer Park Boys Inc., the company behind the popular comedy series, confirmed that Smith has stepped down as its managing director.

A statement from the production company said: “We are aware of the allegation concerning Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take such matters seriously. We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case.”

Smith is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Court orders restrict him from contacting or visiting the alleged victim, whose identity is protected by a publication ban.

Local Residence and Media Silence

Smith’s residence, a lakeside home in Dartmouth, was confirmed by a person answering the door. They declined to comment further.

This case has reignited public attention on Smith, a household name thanks to his iconic role as the glasses-wearing Bubbles.

Trailer Park Boys: A Nova Scotia Cultural Icon

Since its debut in 2001 on Showcase, Trailer Park Boys has become one of Nova Scotia’s most notable cultural exports. The show later moved to Netflix after Smith, Robb Wells, and John Paul Tremblay acquired rights.

In addition to the main series, several tie-in movies and live events have expanded the franchise. While the show paused after its 12th season in 2018, spinoff content continues through the streaming platform Trailer Park Boys+, relaunched this summer.

Production of the 13th season recently concluded, in partnership with Blink49 Studios. The new season is set to release in spring 2026, marking the show’s 25th anniversary.

Past Legal Issues

This is not Smith’s first run-in with the law. In 2016, he faced a misdemeanor domestic battery charge in Los Angeles over an incident at a Hollywood hotel.

Smith denied the allegations, describing the incident as a “loud and heated dispute” with a friend. The public attorney’s office later dropped the charges.

Awaiting Justice

As of now, the sexual assault allegations remain unproven. Legal proceedings will determine the outcome. Fans and the public are watching closely as the case unfolds.

Smith’s involvement in Trailer Park Boys has been a defining part of Canadian television. The new charges add a complicated chapter to his career, which spans over two decades.
