Former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shared his first social media post since stepping down, offering a glimpse into his new routine. On Monday, he posted a selfie while shopping at a Canadian Tire store, just days after Mark Carney officially became Canada’s new Prime Minister.

In the photo, Trudeau stood in the store's cooking section, smiling with a cart full of kitchen utensils and appliances. His caption read, “Gotta love a Monday morning at Canadian Tire.”

The store’s official social media account even replied, “Always good to see you, sir,” adding a Canadian flag emoji.

Trudeau’s lighthearted post marked a shift from his previous social media messages. Four days earlier, he had posted farewell notes after Carney’s swearing-in. On Instagram, he wrote, “Thank you, Canada. Merci,” while on X (formerly Twitter), he shared, “Thank you, Canada — for trusting in me, for challenging me, and for granting me the privilege to serve the best country, and the best people, on earth.”

Following his departure, Trudeau also updated his social media bios. They now read: “Father, former Prime Minister of Canada.”

Mark Carney officially took over as the country’s leader on March 14, after being elected head of the Liberal Party of Canada on March 9.
