Former President Donald Trump has called for CNN reporter Natasha Bertrand to be fired. He criticized her reporting on a U.S. intelligence report about recent military strikes on Iran.
Bertrand had said the strikes only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by a few months. Trump strongly disagreed with her take.
He posted on Truth Social, saying, “Natasha Bertrand should be FIRED from CNN!” He claimed she spread false information for several days. He also accused her of trying to make U.S. fighter pilots look bad.
Trump Pushes Back on Report
Trump said the internal intelligence report is not final. He mentioned the findings are still being reviewed. He also promised a full investigation into how the information got leaked.
Despite the early report, Trump repeated his earlier statement that the Iranian nuclear sites were “totally destroyed.” He said the airstrikes had a major impact, in line with Israel’s view that the damage would delay Iran’s nuclear plans for years.
Harsh Words from the Former President
Trump did not hold back. He said Bertrand has harmed CNN’s reputation. “It’s people like her who destroyed the reputation of a once great Network,” he wrote.
He also attacked her personally, saying she lacks the skills for television. “She doesn’t have what it takes to be an on camera correspondent, not even close,” he added. “FIRE NATASHA!”
Trump’s post drew attention online, especially for the line where he said she should be “thrown out like a dog.”
CNN Defends Its Reporter
In response, CNN released a strong statement. The network said it stands “100% behind Natasha Bertrand’s journalism.”
CNN added that their report was based on early intelligence findings, which they clearly explained might change with time. The network said their team had fairly presented all sides, including Trump’s own public doubts about the assessment.
A CNN spokesperson added, “We do not believe it is reasonable to criticize CNN reporters for accurately reporting the existence of the assessment and accurately characterizing its findings, which are in the public interest.”
Background on the Strikes
The U.S. military carried out airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites last weekend. Officials said it was a move to slow down Iran’s nuclear development.
However, a leaked intelligence report suggested the delay might only last a few months. That raised questions about the long-term impact of the strikes and sparked debate across media and political circles.
Trump’s sharp reaction shows how sensitive the issue remains, especially when it involves national security and media coverage.
