A giant photo of U.S. President Donald Trump with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein appeared on the lawn outside Windsor Castle on Monday. Trump is scheduled to stay at the castle Tuesday night during his state visit to the U.K.
The 400-square-metre image shows Trump and Epstein together at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in 1997. The British activist group Everyone Hates Elon claimed responsibility for the display.
“Trump is coming to the UK to AVOID the EPSTEIN story,” the group posted on Instagram. “Unfortunately the British public just crowdfunded the WORLD’S BIGGEST PHOTO of Donald with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.”
Campaign Extends Beyond Castle Grounds
Everyone Hates Elon shared video footage of someone sneaking a mug featuring the image into the Windsor Castle gift shop. The group also displayed the photo at a U.K. bus stop and reportedly added an Epstein memorial to a bench at Trump’s Scottish golf course.
Past Connections Resurface
Trump’s past comments about Epstein have drawn renewed attention. In 2002, he reportedly told New York magazine, “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
A 2003 birthday book compiled by Epstein’s former girlfriend and accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell allegedly included a note from Trump, alongside messages from former president Bill Clinton, lawyer Alan Dershowitz, and Lord Peter Mandelson. Trump has denied writing the note and has sought to downplay his connection with Epstein, claiming their friendship ended decades ago.
State Visit Details
Trump’s visit to the U.K., running Sept. 16–18, marks his second state visit. He will be hosted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle. The appearance of the photo coincides with heightened attention on the president’s past associations. Prince Andrew, the king’s brother, stepped down from royal duties in 2019 over his reported links to Epstein.
Crowdfunding and Public Response
The campaign to display the photo across the U.K. has raised nearly £32,000 (C$60,000) through crowdfunding. It remains unclear whether authorities removed the massive photo after its unveiling. The activist group said comedian and Trump critic Rosie O’Donnell helped coordinate the social media campaign.
Formed initially to challenge Elon Musk’s political activism, Everyone Hates Elon has also targeted other high-profile billionaires, including Jeff Bezos, using similar guerrilla marketing tactics.
Epstein and Maxwell Background
Epstein died by suicide in a New York City jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence in the U.S. for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors. The Windsor Castle photo stunt underscores the lasting public interest in Trump’s connections with Epstein and the broader scandal.
