In a distressing incident on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police in London launched a manhunt for a suspect following an acid attack that left nine people injured. The incident unfolded in the Clapham area when a man threw a corrosive substance at a woman and two children, according to Detective Superintendent Alexander Castle.

Describing the event as "horrific," Castle provided details of the victims, which included the targeted woman and children, as well as three adults who came to their aid and three police officers. Although the injuries sustained by the officers were believed to be minor, the conditions of the other victims remained unknown at the time of the report.

As investigations commenced, Castle disclosed that tests were being conducted to identify the corrosive substance responsible for the injuries. While details were scarce, he affirmed that, at this point, authorities believed the substance to be corrosive.

The police are actively seeking a man who was spotted fleeing the scene of the attack. The urgency of the search reflects the severity of the incident and the need to apprehend the suspect responsible for the disturbing assault swiftly.

The motive behind the attack and the relationship between the assailant and the victims remain unclear, leaving the community on edge. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in solving such cases.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and community engagement to address and prevent violent acts. The police's rapid response and ongoing investigation aim to bring the perpetrator to justice and provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the shocking acid attack in Clapham.
