On Veterans Day, restaurants across the U.S. are offering special deals to honor veterans and active-duty military personnel. The holiday, observed annually on November 11, commemorates the armistice that ended World War I in 1918, marking the day when fighting ceased at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Many restaurants require proof of military service, such as a military ID or DD214 card, to claim these deals, which often apply to dine-in guests. Be sure to confirm details with your nearest location to check participation.

Here's a look at some Veterans Day deals being offered:

Starbucks: Veterans, service members, and their spouses can receive a free 12-ounce brewed coffee at participating U.S. Starbucks stores on Veterans Day. Additionally, Starbucks will donate $200,000 to veterans' support organizations like the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project.
