A close family friend shared that the injured mother underwent an extensive eight-hour surgery and is now stable. The other woman involved has been discharged from the hospital. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the medical teams at Lions Gate and Vancouver General hospitals, as well as the first responders. They are also keeping the bus driver in their thoughts and request privacy during this challenging time.

A memorial has emerged at the accident site. Students who witnessed the incident placed flowers to honor the victims. North Vancouver teacher Keith Gallant emphasized the importance of expressing grief, stating, "I wanted to try and model some healthy grief and so I bought some flowers and asked them all to take a piece and share a thought for mom and the boy that’s lost."

Acting Mayor Linda Watt, residing near the crash location, expressed the community's profound grief. "We are absolutely devastated, and our heartfelt condolences go out to the families involved, the bystanders, and the first responders, who are often overlooked, the trauma to them in a situation like this," she remarked.
