Winnipeg Jets' Adam Lowry, front left to right, Nino Niederreiter and Alex Iafallo celebrate Niederreiter's goal against the Vancouver Canucks during the first period of an NHL hockey game, in Vancouver, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
After a rough start on their six-game road trip, the Winnipeg Jets finally found their rhythm, defeating the Vancouver Canucks 5-3 on Tuesday night. Five different players scored, giving the Jets their first win after three consecutive losses.
Winnipeg Jets’ Offense Explodes Early
The team struggled on their road swing, scoring only two goals in their first three games. Against Vancouver, they erupted for three first-period goals, signaling a return to form.
“Looked a lot more like how we want to play for 60 minutes,” said Jets head coach Scott Arniel, praising the team’s speed and defensive awareness.
Despite losing defenceman Haydn Fleury to an upper-body injury in the second period, Josh Morrissey logged nearly 25 minutes, contributing a goal and two assists.
“Everyone wanted to step up after losing a few games,” said Morrissey. “As a leader, I wanted to lead that charge.”
Back-and-Forth Action
The opening period was intense, with almost five minutes of uninterrupted play before Morrissey scored off a deflection, giving Winnipeg an early lead. Vancouver quickly responded, tying and then taking the lead on a power-play goal by Jake DeBrusk.
Winnipeg regained momentum with a power-play goal by Morrissey, snapping an 0-for-16 drought over the last four and a half games. Fifteen seconds later, Adam Lowry found the net again, reclaiming the lead for the Jets.
Strong Goaltending and Defense
Despite being outshot 12-8 in the first period, the Jets held a 3-2 lead. Connor Hellebuyck made crucial saves, including a near goal-line scramble against Brock Boeser in the third period.
Vancouver swapped goalies mid-game, bringing in Kevin Lankinen after Thatcher Demko allowed three goals on eight shots. Hellebuyck ended the night with 30 saves, securing the victory.
Third Period Dominance
Winnipeg opened the third period with an early goal, extending their lead to 4-2. Gabriel Vilardi scored off a slick passing sequence involving Kyle Connor and Morrissey.
Vancouver pulled within one late, but Winnipeg responded with an empty-net goal by Alex Iafallo, marking his 600th NHL game and sealing the 5-3 win.
Power Play Revival
The Jets’ power play had been struggling prior to this game. Against the Canucks, they scored twice on four opportunities, a key factor in breaking their losing streak.
“Sometimes the puck just doesn’t go in,” Arniel said. “Tonight, they executed our power play perfectly.”
