The new YouTube feature lets you review your top channels, interests, and other viewing habits.
YouTube is giving viewers a fresh way to look back at their year in videos. The platform has introduced a new Recap feature that highlights your most-watched channels, trending topics, and evolving interests.
The Recap presents up to 12 personalized cards. Each card showcases your favorite creators, video genres, and moments that defined your watch habits. According to YouTube, it “uniquely highlights interests, deep dives, and moments” based on your viewing history.
A Video Version of Spotify Wrapped
The feature feels familiar to anyone who follows Spotify Wrapped. Just like Spotify’s annual review of listening habits, YouTube Recap offers a playful twist. It even assigns a personality type based on viewing patterns, with labels like Adventurer, Skill Builder, and Creative Spirit. These reflect your unique video preferences, much like Spotify’s listening personality categories.
How to Access Your YouTube Recap
Starting today, Recap is available to US users and will expand globally later this week. You can view it on mobile or desktop by tapping the dedicated Recap button on the homepage or under the “You” tab in your account menu.
While Recap includes some music-related stats like top songs and artists, it doesn’t replace the YouTube Music Recap. The music-focused annual review, covering favorite tracks, artists, genres, and podcasts, remains accessible through the YouTube Music app.
Trending Creators and Content of the Year
Alongside the launch, YouTube revealed trending charts for the year. Unsurprisingly, MrBeast remains the top creator, and The Joe Rogan Experience leads the podcast rankings. Other insights show shifts in trends across genres. For instance, the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack dominated the general top songs chart but didn’t perform as strongly in Shorts.
YouTube’s Recap offers a playful, reflective way to see how video habits shaped your year. By combining personalized insights and trend highlights, it gives users a unique snapshot of their online viewing journey.
With this feature, YouTube joins the growing list of platforms helping users celebrate their digital habits. Whether you’re a casual viewer or a devoted fan, Recap makes it easy to relive your favorite moments from 2025 in one glance.
