Dior has introduced a new watch called the Grand Bal Histoire Naturelle. This elegant timepiece is crafted to move gracefully, mimicking the flowing motion of a ball gown as it swirls. CNN
Chopard has revealed a unique collection of luxury watches that has everyone talking. At a major watch event, the brand displayed twelve different L’Heure du Diamant watches, all tucked into one elegant leather box. Each watch has a dazzling diamond border and a different dial made from bright natural stones.
The stones include apple-green jade, blue agate, tiger’s eye, white mother-of-pearl, pink opal, onyx, and carnelian. The collection feels both glamorous and playful, with a strong feminine charm.
Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s co-president, shared that her father started using these hard-stones in the 1960s. He introduced goldsmithing methods that helped create bold, colorful dials. Chopard now brings them back to honor that creativity.
This return of colorful watches isn’t just limited to Chopard. Several luxury brands are also jumping in. Rolex has updated its famous models with new colors and stones like turquoise and aventurine. One Rolex model now even comes in lavender, a first for the brand.
Gucci also gave its Grip watch a bold twist with jasper. Dior’s Grand Bal line uses stones like sodalite and aventurine. Chanel added meteorite to its designs, while Cartier created a mesmerizing dial with mother-of-pearl, turquoise, and onyx.
Piaget joined the trend with its Hidden Treasures collection. One piece features a green opal inside an engraved gold cuff decorated with emeralds. Another model uses red ruby root on a necklace-style watch with pink tourmaline and white opal.
Piaget also brought back its Andy Warhol-inspired watch in four versions. Each has a different stone, like tiger’s eye or meteorite. The brand says the unique shape of the case lets the stones shine.
Hublot also entered the trend with meteorite, pink jasper, and turquoise dials. Meanwhile, Gerald Charles revealed a watch with a deep blue lapis lazuli dial. The CEO said the design honors founder Gerald Genta, who loved that stone.
So why the sudden love for these colorful dials? Experts believe people enjoy the personal touch. Each stone has its own patterns and colors, making every watch one-of-a-kind. Some even see deeper meanings in the stones, like birthstones or symbols of good luck.
Experts also link the trend to a return of 1970s fashion. Back then, people wore bright colors, flared pants, and bold prints. Just like in that era, people now look for color as a way to feel better during hard times.
However, working with these stones isn't easy. Even though they are called “hard-stones,” they can break. Piaget’s team explained that the final step—attaching the hands—is the most risky. Still, they believe it’s worth it for the beautiful result.
These colorful watches do more than tell time. They reflect a bold, cheerful lifestyle and help people express their personality through design
