"Stranger Things" is heading to Broadway.
On Tuesday, the producers of the stage adaptation announced that the show will move to New York City's Marquis Theatre in the spring of 2025. Directed by Stephen Daldry and co-directed by Justin Martin, the play titled “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” will start its run on March 28, 2025, with the official opening scheduled for April 22, 2025.
Earlier this year, the production garnered acclaim in London, winning the Olivier Award for best new entertainment or comedy play, as well as for best-set design.
The story, crafted by the Duffer Brothers alongside Jack Thorne and Kate Trefry, is set 40 years before the events of the Netflix series. It explores the origins of Henry Creel, the Hawkins Lab test subject who became known as Vecna in Season 4.
Critics have praised the play, with Time Out describing it as a “sprawling maximalist monolith” and the Guardian calling it “breathtaking theatre with its own arresting imagination.”
