Contract discussions are scheduled to recommence between Viterra and GSU Local 1 and 2 after the union turned down Viterra's final proposal in mid-December.
The GSU reported that negotiations, ongoing for over a year, will resume next week on January 3 and 4 in Regina. Emphasizing their commitment to keeping farmers and producers informed, the union highlighted that any labor disruption could have adverse effects on them.
GSU General Secretary Steve Torgerson expressed concern not only about the potential consequences of a strike or lockout but also about the broader impact of the Bunge Viterra merger. Torgerson noted that any reduction in competition in grain handling could significantly affect producers for an extended period.
Official Statements will be heard by Tuesday.
