Canadians continue to choose Los Cabos as a favourite getaway, and airlines have taken notice. Carriers have added more routes and seats to meet rising demand, making Canada the fastest-growing international air travel market for the popular Mexican destination.
Travellers from Western Canada have long supported tourism to Los Cabos. Now, interest from Ontario and Quebec continues to climb, adding strength to the market. Tourism officials say this steady growth reflects a shift from seasonal winter visits to year-round travel.
Canada ranks second among international visitors
Canada now accounts for more than 16 per cent of all international arrivals to Los Cabos. That places the country in second position, behind only the United States.
Reports from 2025 show Canadian visitors stay longer and spend more during their trips compared to American tourists. On average, Canadians remain in the destination for about 10 nights, while American travellers stay roughly 5.7 nights. Longer stays often mean higher spending on hotels, dining, excursions, and local businesses.
Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, says the growth shows a clear trend.
“Canada has evolved into a core market for Los Cabos, not just a seasonal source of winter travel,” says Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board. “Airlines are expanding service because demand is strong, consistent and increasingly nationwide. What we’re seeing now is long-term market confidence.”
Airlines increase capacity
Air travel numbers reflect this rising interest. January recorded a 24.6 per cent increase in year-over-year airlift from Canada. Tourism data also shows seat capacity from Canada is expected to grow by more than 13.1 per cent over the next six months.
That projected growth marks the largest increase in forward seat capacity among major international markets serving Los Cabos.
More direct routes and added frequency allow travellers easier access from several Canadian cities. The expansion also supports local tourism businesses that depend on steady international arrivals.
Visitor numbers climb sharply
In 2025, 240,000 Canadians travelled to Los Cabos. That total represents a 20 per cent rise compared to the previous year. The jump in visitors from Toronto stood out, with a 37 per cent increase.
Tourism officials believe the combination of warm weather, luxury resorts, and expanded flight options continues to attract Canadians seeking reliable vacation choices. As airlines respond to steady demand, Los Cabos strengthens its position as one of the top sun destinations for Canadians.
With consistent growth from multiple provinces and strong airline support, the Mexican resort area appears set to welcome even more Canadian travellers in the months ahead.
