Residents of Ottawa are urged to brace themselves as Environment Canada has issued a chilling winter travel advisory, enveloping the capital city in an icy shroud of caution. The warning comes as heavy snowfall continues its relentless assault, with no signs of reprieve until the dark cloak of Sunday night descends upon the city.

With forecasted accumulations ranging between 5 and 10 centimetres, the landscape is expected to transform into a wintry wonderland, albeit one fraught with perilous conditions. Reduced visibility, a consequence of the relentless snowfall, threatens to cloak the city streets in a veil of uncertainty, prompting authorities to sound the alarm.

"Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Continue postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve," urged Environment Canada in a statement released on Sunday, a solemn reminder of the precarious nature of winter's grip.

For those daring to venture forth, road conditions and traveller information remain accessible online, offering a lifeline of guidance amidst the tempestuous weather.

As Sunday unfolds, a high of 1°C offers little respite from the biting cold, compounded by swirling winds that whip the falling snow into a frenzy. As night descends, Ottawa will shiver under a frigid embrace, with temperatures plummeting to a bone-chilling -5°C, accompanied by intermittent flurries.

Monday brings with it a glimmer of hope, albeit faint, as a 40 percent chance of flurries dances upon the horizon. With a high of 4°C, the promise of milder temperatures offers a semblance of relief, albeit tempered by the persistent chill that refuses to relinquish its grasp. As darkness descends, a low of -4°C and cloudy periods loom overhead, casting a shadow upon the cityscape.

Yet, amidst the turmoil, a beacon of light emerges on the horizon. Tuesday heralds the arrival of sunny skies, casting a warm embrace upon a city beleaguered by the relentless onslaught of winter's fury. With temperatures climbing to a balmy 11°C, and a gentle breeze whispering promises of spring's imminent arrival, Ottawa stands poised to shake off the icy shackles that bind it.

As the wintry maelstrom rages on, Ottawa remains steadfast in the face of adversity, weathering the storm with Stoic resolve, as it awaits the triumphant arrival of sunnier days.
