Air Canada is expanding its service to Ottawa with nearly 30 additional weekly flights for the winter season, representing a 60% increase from last year. Year-round non-stop flights to Calgary and Winnipeg will now be available, along with more capacity for flights to Halifax, Quebec, and Vancouver, including the introduction of wide-body flights. Additionally, the airline is increasing flights to popular winter destinations such as Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, Cancun, and Punta Cana. This expansion aims to meet rising demand and support Ottawa's economic and tourism growth.

Mark Galardo, Air Canada's vice-president of revenue and network planning, highlighted Ottawa's importance in their network and expressed satisfaction in expanding connections and flight frequencies. Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe praised the move, noting its positive impact on the local economy and international recognition of Ottawa's market. Joel Tkach, from the Ottawa International Airport Authority, emphasized the strategic timing and benefits for local travelers.

The new schedule includes year-round daily flights to Calgary and Winnipeg, increased frequency to Halifax and Quebec, and additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flights to Vancouver. For winter 2024, flights to Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando will see increased frequencies, while United Airlines, Air Canada's partner, will add more flights to Chicago and Washington-Dulles.

Overall, this expansion will enhance connectivity for both domestic and international travelers, fostering business, tourism, and local economic growth in Ottawa.
