Canadians are being advised by Global Affairs Canada to avoid all travel to Israel and the West Bank due to the unpredictable security situation in the region. The advisory is prompted by a heightened risk of attacks on Israeli territory and escalating tensions in the West Bank.

According to Palestinian health officials, a Palestinian man was killed and 25 others injured when a group of Israeli settlers stormed into a village in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The settlers reportedly shot at residents and set houses and cars on fire, resulting in casualties and damage.

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly emphasized the volatile nature of the regional security situation and warned that escalation could occur suddenly. Joly urged Canadians in the area to consider leaving via commercial means to ensure their safety.

The travel advisory update comes shortly after a tragic incident where seven aid workers affiliated with the World Central Kitchen, including a Canadian-American dual citizen, were killed during an Israeli airstrike on their convoy in the Gaza Strip.
