Oriental Land Company plans to construct and manage the upcoming vessel.

Disney Cruise Line is gearing up for a major expansion with the launch of a brand-new ship scheduled for early 2029 in Japan. This addition will increase Disney's fleet to a total of nine ships worldwide.

The ship, commissioned and operated by Oriental Land Company, renowned for managing Tokyo Disneyland, will be constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. It's set to be a sister ship to the Disney Wish, incorporating state-of-the-art design and technology to enhance passenger comfort and onboard experience.

Yumiko Takano, the representative director, chairperson, and CEO of Oriental Land Co., emphasized their commitment to leveraging their expertise from the theme park industry to elevate family entertainment on cruise voyages. She expressed confidence in pushing boundaries to deliver enriching and surprising experiences for guests.

The new vessel will be flagged and registered in Japan, operating year-round within the region. Disney anticipates outfitting the ship with approximately 1,250 staterooms, ensuring ample accommodations for families and travelers. Notably, the ship will utilize liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its primary fuel source, aligning with Disney's environmental sustainability initiatives.

Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, highlighted Disney Cruise Line's ambitious mission to extend the magic of family vacations and Disney storytelling to a broader global audience. He conveyed excitement about collaborating with Oriental Land Co. to introduce yet another uniquely Disney vacation experience tailored specifically for families and enthusiasts in Japan.
