Fort Lauderdale is calling travelers to leave behind the cold and soak up the Florida sun with its new winter campaign, "Break Free." This initiative encourages those enduring harsh winters to swap snow for sandy beaches. The campaign is already live across digital platforms and will wrap up with a major event in Chicago in mid-March.

A Warm Invitation to Travelers

Stacy Ritter, president and CEO of Visit Lauderdale, shared her excitement about the campaign. "Our winter campaign invites travelers to 'Break Free' from the cold and immerse themselves in the sunshine, outdoor adventures, and the coastal charm of Greater Fort Lauderdale," she said. She highlighted the area’s 24 miles of golden beaches, diverse dining options, and rich arts scene, making it an ideal destination for a warm getaway.

Bold Advertising in Key Cities

The campaign is targeting travelers from chilly regions like Boston, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. Through eye-catching digital ads, billboards, and social media, it aims to remind people of Florida’s warmth.

One of the biggest highlights will be a 3D billboard in Times Square from March 3 to 30. With over 330,000 visitors passing through daily, the ad is expected to capture the attention of those dreaming of a winter escape.

Interactive Experience in Chicago

The campaign will peak with a special event in Chicago’s Pioneer Court from March 14 to 16, just before the city’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The experience will transform a shipping container into a tropical getaway, using innovative Smart Glass Projection technology.

Visitors will see the glass appear to "shatter" with a foam sledgehammer, revealing a sunny escape inside. The setup will offer tropical mocktails, giveaways, and fun photo opportunities. Brand ambassadors will be present, handing out sunglasses, stickers, mints, and tropical punch to visitors looking for a taste of Florida.

Exciting Attractions Await in Fort Lauderdale

Beyond its beaches, Fort Lauderdale has plenty of new attractions and revitalized hotspots waiting for visitors. Highlights include:

  • The reopening of the Mai-Kai Restaurant and Polynesian Show
  • The revamped Pier Sixty-Six and Marina Village, a waterfront food hall
  • Attractions like Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery, Flamingo Gardens, and the Water Taxi

With these exciting destinations and year-round warm weather, Fort Lauderdale is positioning itself as the perfect winter escape.
