Each itinerary in the National Geographic Family Journeys features engaging activities that draw from National Geographic's strengths in storytelling, wildlife, and exploration. Families will have opportunities to learn about photography, culture, history, and nature as they travel through these unique locations.

Ecuador Family Journey: Volcanoes and the Amazon

The Ecuador Family Journey invites families to experience the incredible biodiversity of this small but vibrant country. They will stay for three nights in a cozy jungle lodge, surrounded by the lush Amazon rainforest. Families will take guided walks to explore the dense jungle and observe the native plants and animals that call it home.

In addition to discovering the rainforest, families will visit the Yaku Water Museum near Quito, where they can learn about the history of chocolate and enjoy interactive exhibits. This nine-day adventure allows families to immerse themselves in Ecuador’s rich Indigenous heritage and diverse ecosystems, creating lasting memories together.

Mexico Family Journey: Ruins and Cenotes of the Yucatán

Next, the Mexico Family Journey takes families on an eight-day adventure across the Yucatán Peninsula, filled with beautiful beaches, Mayan ruins, and abundant wildlife. Young explorers will have a blast visiting historical sites, quaint towns, and cenotes (natural sinkholes) during this educational trip.

Families will embark on a wildlife-spotting safari in Cozumel, snorkel in vibrant reefs near Chichen Itza, and connect with a local Maya community. They’ll also have the chance to enjoy ice cream in Izamal after visiting the town’s stunning golden pyramid dedicated to the Maya Sun God, Kinich Kak Mo. This journey is a wonderful blend of culture, history, and outdoor fun, perfect for creating unforgettable family moments.

Spain Family Journey: Vibrant Cities and Artistic Icons

The Spain Family Journey offers an exciting nine-day exploration of the country’s rich culture, history, and delicious food. Families can even join a paella-making class to learn how to prepare this traditional dish.

In Madrid, the adventure continues with a foodie walk through a lively local market, and a day trip to the medieval city of Toledo.
