Gal Gadot Reveals Harrowing Health Crisis During Pregnancy: "A Stark Reminder of Life's Fragility"
Gal Gadot, known worldwide as Wonder Woman, has opened up about a life-threatening health scare she endured during her fourth pregnancy. In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Sunday, December 29, the 39-year-old actress recounted the terrifying ordeal that unfolded during her eighth month of pregnancy.
Gadot revealed she had been diagnosed with a massive blood clot in her brain, a condition that nearly claimed her life. For weeks, she had been battling debilitating headaches that left her confined to bed. “An MRI finally revealed the terrifying truth,” she wrote. “In that moment, my family and I were confronted with the fragility of life. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change.”

The ordeal culminated in an emergency hospital visit, where Gadot underwent life-saving surgery and simultaneously gave birth to her daughter, Ori, in March. Ori’s name, which means “my light” in Hebrew, holds deep significance for the actress. “Before the surgery, I told Jaron [her husband] that our daughter would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel,” she shared.
Now fully recovered, Gadot expressed her profound gratitude to the medical team at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, calling them “extraordinary.” In her post, she urged others to stay vigilant about their health, emphasizing the importance of paying attention to bodily signals.
“Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often carry a deeper meaning,” she wrote. “Being attuned to your body can be life-saving.” Gadot shared an alarming statistic that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women over 30 develop CVT (cerebral venous thrombosis), a rare but treatable condition involving a blood clot in the brain.
The actress hopes her story will raise awareness and empower others to prioritize their health. “If even one person takes action because of this story, it will have been worth sharing,” she concluded.
Gadot’s candid post also touched on the contrast between the curated moments often seen on social media and the fragile realities that lie behind them. “I wanted to pull back the curtain,” she noted, adding that she doesn’t intend to frighten anyone but rather inspire awareness.
This is not the first time Gadot has spoken openly about motherhood. Back in March, she announced Ori’s birth on Instagram with a heartfelt post, though she made no mention of her health crisis at the time. Alongside a photo of herself cradling her newborn in a hospital bed, she wrote, “My sweet girl, welcome. The pregnancy was not easy, but we made it through. You have brought so much light into our lives, living up to your name.”

Gadot and her husband, film producer Jaron Varsano, are parents to four daughters: Alma, 13, Maya, 7, Daniella, 3, and baby Ori, now 9 months.
By sharing her experience, Gadot hopes to shine a light not just on her personal journey but on the importance of health awareness during pregnancy. “Awareness matters,” she reiterated, encouraging her followers to take proactive steps for their well-being.
