J.S. Park, a hospital chaplain who supports people of all faiths, discusses his book 'As Long as You Need' in an interview with CTV News.

April 20, 2024

J.S. Park spends his days at Tampa General Hospital, where he listens to people's deepest thoughts and feelings as they face their final moments. Over the years, he's been there for countless patients and their families, offering comfort and support through some of life's toughest challenges.

In his new book, "As Long as You Need," Park shares his experiences and the lessons he's learned about dealing with loss and grief. He encourages people to express their emotions in whatever way feels right to them, whether that's through tears, screams, or simply taking time to process their feelings.

As a chaplain, Park's job is to provide a listening ear and a comforting presence to people of all faiths. He doesn't try to push his own beliefs on others but instead focuses on being there for them in whatever way they need.

While his work can be emotionally taxing at times, Park finds solace in knowing that he's making a difference in people's lives. He's learned to appreciate the fragility of life and strives to help his patients find peace and fulfillment in their final moments.

Through it all, Park remains committed to his role as a chaplain, knowing that being open and vulnerable is what allows him to connect with others on a deep level. And while he can't undo the pain and suffering he's witnessed, he finds comfort in knowing that he's been able to offer support and compassion to those who need it most.
