A devastating incident unfolded at a nail salon in Deer Park, Long Island, when a minivan crashed into Hawaii Nail & Spa, claiming four lives and injuring nine others. The tragedy struck around 4:40 p.m., trapping several individuals inside until responders from the Deer Park Fire Department arrived to rescue and transport them to nearby hospitals.

Assistant Chief Dominic Albanese described the scene as chaotic, with emergency crews tirelessly working to manage the aftermath. The driver, found in a semiconscious state, was swiftly taken to a hospital for urgent medical care. Authorities were initially uncertain whether the crash was accidental or intentional, leading to ongoing investigations late into the evening.

Eric Perez, a witness to the horrific event, recounted the unsettling sound of the minivan accelerating followed by a deafening crash that shattered the salon's front facade. He witnessed emergency responders quickly aiding victims, notably two women who appeared to be salon employees, stretchered out for medical attention.

Visual evidence depicted the extensive damage—a gaping hole where the minivan collided with the strip mall. Despite numerous inquiries, Suffolk County police had yet to provide additional details at the time of reporting.

The incident prompted a rapid and extensive response from approximately 150 firefighters and medical personnel, highlighting the community's resilience in the face of adversity. Chief Albanese expressed profound sadness over the tragic loss, recognizing the significant impact on both the local community and the volunteer fire department.
