Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced the cancellation of nearly five months’ worth of cruises across three of its ships, leaving many passengers facing disruptions to their travel plans. The affected sailings, which span from November 2025 to April 2026, involve the Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Star, and Norwegian Jewel.
The cancellations will impact the following sailings:

  • Norwegian Dawn: November 2, 2025, to April 12, 2026
  • Norwegian Star: November 20, 2025, to April 14, 2026
  • Norwegian Jewel: November 23, 2025, to April 5, 2026

In a statement sent to guests and travel partners on Thursday, NCL explained that the cancellations were necessary due to “fleet redeployment.” This means that the company is adjusting its schedules to meet market demands and to offer more specialized or enhanced voyages that guests have been requesting.

“Occasionally, scheduled itineraries may need to be canceled, allowing us the opportunity to introduce enhanced voyages that accommodate strong guest demand and provide a more immersive experience,” the letter read. “While unfortunately cancellations may arise, please rest assured that we are always working hard to provide you with world-class cruise vacations to bucket-list destinations. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment this cancellation may cause.”

For passengers affected by these cancellations, NCL is offering a full refund for the cruise fare they have already paid. Additionally, passengers will receive a 10 percent future cruise credit to use on any upcoming voyages, as compensation for the inconvenience.

This is not the first time this year that Norwegian Cruise Line has made significant cancellations. Earlier in April 2024, the company had already canceled multiple voyages across seven ships. While large-scale cancellations are not a frequent occurrence, they can happen for various reasons, such as ship maintenance, dry docks, or strategic redeployments to better meet guest demand.

The cancellations come at a particularly challenging time for travelers who had already made plans and paid for their trips well in advance. However, NCL is working to accommodate these changes by providing financial compensation and future cruise credits, allowing passengers to reschedule their vacations.

As the cruise industry continues to adjust to shifting market needs and guest preferences, NCL’s decision to redeploy its fleet is an effort to better meet the demand for enhanced experiences on the seas. Though such cancellations can be disappointing, they highlight the cruise line’s ongoing efforts to ensure future voyages provide unforgettable experiences for passengers.
