Nothing unveiled its latest offering, the Nothing Phone 2a, in India on March 5, marking the commencement of sales on March 12. Available in three RAM and storage variants along with two color selections, the smartphone is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity chipset and boasts a robust 5,000mAh battery that supports rapid wired charging. Running on the Android 14-based NothingOS 2.5 platform from the get-go, the mid-range device has begun receiving an operating system upgrade, touted to enhance various aspects of its functionality.

The rollout of NothingOS 2.5.3 for Nothing Phone 2a users has commenced, with the company detailing the update's improvements in a recent community announcement. Among the notable enhancements included in this version are significant improvements to the camera capabilities. Users can now enjoy features like Ultra HDR and XDR display effects, compatible with Google Photos.

Additionally, the update introduces a convenient shortcut widget for the Camera app and enhances the camera watermark display by including the focal length of the image. It promises enhancements in Raw HDR photography, color saturation, selfie clarity, as well as improvements in electronic and optical image stabilization.

Further augmenting the user experience, the update introduces a new Recorder widget and addresses various bugs, particularly those associated with fingerprint unlocking. General performance enhancements are also part of the package, including touchscreen responsiveness, memory management, vibration effects, and charging adapter compatibility.

In terms of pricing, the Nothing Phone 2a starts at Rs. 23,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, with the 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB configurations priced at Rs. 25,999 and Rs. 27,999, respectively. The device is available in Black and White color options.

The Nothing Phone 2a sports a 6.7-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,412 pixels, powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC. It features dual 50-megapixel rear cameras, a 32-megapixel selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging support. Boasting a redesigned Glyph Interface and a transparent rear panel, the device incorporates an in-display fingerprint sensor and holds an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.
