Hollywood actor Jesse Eisenberg, who recently became a Polish citizen, received a tongue-in-cheek offer from Poland’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk. The PM jokingly suggested that military training in Poland could help Eisenberg land the role of the next James Bond.
Jesse Eisenberg’s Polish Citizenship and Reaction
Earlier this month, Poland officially granted citizenship to Eisenberg, who has Polish roots. Shortly after, the actor appeared on NBC's The Tonight Show, where he humorously recalled an interesting coincidence. He shared that just a day after receiving his Polish citizenship, he saw a news headline stating that Poland now requires all males to undergo military training. His remark drew laughter from the audience.
PM Tusk Responds with Humor
Reacting to Eisenberg’s comments, Tusk posted a video on social media platform X. In the clip, he reassured the actor that military training in Poland is not mandatory but voluntary. He then playfully invited Eisenberg to Poland, promising him training so intense that it would secure him the role of James Bond.
“So come over to Poland! And we'll give you such a training that, the new James Bond role? It’s yours!” Tusk said in the video.
Poland’s Military Expansion Plans
Beyond the humor, Tusk’s message highlights a serious military initiative. On March 7, he announced his government’s plans to introduce large-scale military training for adult males due to the evolving security situation in Europe. The goal is to expand Poland’s army to 500,000 soldiers, more than double its current size, including reservists.
By 2027, the government aims to train 100,000 volunteers annually, strengthening its pool of reservists. Tusk expressed confidence that many people would willingly participate.
While Eisenberg’s military service remains a joke, Poland’s defense strategy is a pressing reality.
