Princess Anne, known for her stylish and sophisticated fashion choices, made a notable appearance recently in a classic trench coat during her visit to a family-run bed manufacturing business in Leeds. At 74, the Princess Royal continues to showcase her support for British fashion while promoting local industries.
On Wednesday, Princess Anne visited Harrison Spinks, where she received an exclusive tour of the production process that brings British-made beds from farms to factories. The royal's trench coat was paired elegantly with a tweed double-breasted jacket and a matching skirt, complemented by black suede knee-high boots and mauve gloves. This outfit reflected her impeccable taste and dedication to British fashion.

In a special touch, Princess Anne wore a scarf that holds personal significance, as it was a gift from her brother, King Charles. This soft check scarf, gifted to several family members last Christmas, adds a meaningful element to her ensemble. The scarf was from Highgrove House, the King's residence in Gloucestershire, showcasing the connection between the royal family and their support for British craftsmanship.

During her visit to the Harrison Spinks farm, Princess Anne learned about the company’s commitment to sustainability. The farm is known for its award-winning Wensleydale sheep and innovative practices that incorporate hemp and flax into their luxury mattress fillings. These efforts highlight the company's dedication to eco-friendly production and ethical sourcing.

Following her farm visit, the Princess toured Harrison Spinks’ manufacturing site in Leeds alongside the Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Mr. Ed Anderson CBE. The tour offered her a firsthand look at the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into creating Harrison Spinks’ luxury beds and mattresses. She observed skilled artisans in action, showcasing traditional hand side stitching, tape edging, and tufting techniques that have been part of the company’s heritage for 180 years.

As the visit progressed, Princess Anne swapped her trench coat for a tapestry-style scarf, allowing her to engage more comfortably with the factory environment. Her enthusiasm for learning about textiles and craftsmanship was evident, demonstrating her genuine interest in the business and its sustainable practices.

Simon Spinks, the Chairman of Harrison Spinks, expressed his gratitude for the royal visit, emphasizing the honor of having Princess Anne present the prestigious King’s Award for Sustainable Development to their family business. He remarked on the company’s dedication to sustainability and innovation throughout their production processes, noting that this recognition reflects their team’s hard work and commitment to responsible practices.

Spinks stated, “Sustainability is at the core of everything we do,” and thanked Princess Anne for taking the time to learn about their initiatives, which aim to make a positive impact on local communities and the environment. He added that having the Princess Royal present the award made it a truly special day for everyone involved.
