The Irwin family in 2018. Robert Irwin Stuns in Bold New Bonds Campaign
Robert Irwin has swapped his signature wildlife gear for something a little more daring—and a lot more unexpected. Known for his conservation work and rugged adventures in the Australian outback, the 21-year-old son of Steve Irwin is now turning heads in his latest gig as a Bonds underwear model.
The young conservationist appears shirtless in the brand's U.S. launch campaign, wearing black boxer briefs and confidently posing with a snake wrapped around his neck. It’s a striking image that sharply contrasts his usual khakis and wide-brimmed Akubra hat.
From Wildlife Warrior to Underwear Model
While the campaign is a fresh move for Robert, it's one he didn’t take lightly. In an exclusive chat with People, he admitted to stepping up his fitness regime to prepare. “I’ve done more sit-ups and had fewer carbs than ever before,” he said, noting how important physical fitness is for his active lifestyle. With daily routines that involve wrangling crocodiles and trekking through the Australian bush, Robert said staying in shape is part of the job. “You’ve got to keep good upper body strength and stamina to do what I do,” he explained.

Challenging Himself Beyond the Comfort Zone
Modeling may seem like a surprising turn, but for Robert, it’s all about pushing boundaries. “I’m at a point in life where I want to try new things,” he said. “If something gives me a bit of a rush or makes me nervous, I take that as a sign I should go for it.”
Despite stepping into unfamiliar territory, Robert kept elements of his wildlife roots in the shoot. Alongside him in the campaign are snakes, spiders, and lizards—creatures he’s grown up rescuing and caring for. “It’s been so much fun,” he said. “I’ve always been surrounded by animals… the only difference now is I’m in my undies!”
Family Support and Carrying the Legacy
The bold career move hasn’t gone unnoticed by those closest to him. Robert says his family is fully behind the campaign. “They’re my rock,” he shared. “Everything I do, I do with them and for the legacy we’re continuing.”
Robert’s new chapter might look far removed from his conservation work, but he believes it’s just another way of embracing life’s opportunities while staying true to his adventurous spirit. Whether in the wild or in front of the camera, one thing’s clear—Robert Irwin is unafraid to explore new paths.
