India responded swiftly after Pakistan launched a series of missile and drone attacks under operation Sindoor across several states. In a decisive overnight move, the Indian Navy carried out strategic operations in the Arabian Sea early Friday. These operations were aimed at neutralising Pakistani threats following the hostile escalation.
Multiple Cities Face Sudden Blackouts
Soon after the missile threats surfaced, several Indian cities plunged into darkness. Power blackouts were reported in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Srinagar. The move was seen as a precautionary measures under operation sindoor to counter potential aerial threats and ensure civilian safety.
Missiles Rain Down on Jammu and Kashmir
The situation escalated on Thursday when loud explosions shook Jammu. Pakistani forces reportedly fired missiles at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir. These included RS Pura, Arnia, Samba, and Hiranagar. Thankfully, India’s robust air defence systems intercepted all incoming missiles, preventing any major damage.
Drones Intercepted in Rajasthan and Punjab
Apart from missiles, drone threats were reported in several regions. In Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, drones were swiftly intercepted. Pathankot also witnessed shelling, while similar threats were spotted in Udhampur and Jammu.
Defence Ministry: Operation Sindoor Successfully Neutralised All Threats
The Defence Ministry confirmed the attempted attacks via a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot & Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the International Border,” the post said.
It added, “All threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic methods. No casualties or material losses were reported.” Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were strictly followed, and India remained on full alert.
Operation Sindoor Hits Back
The recent flare-up follows India’s Operation Sindoor launched earlier this week. The operation came in response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam last month, which killed 26 people. In retaliation, Indian forces struck nine locations inside Pakistan, including major terror bases of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in Muridke and Bahawalpur.
Pakistan’s Failed Retaliation
In a failed counter-offensive, Pakistan attempted to target Indian sites at 15 different locations. However, these efforts were largely ineffective. India’s forces promptly retaliated on Thursday morning, striking Pakistani air defence systems. One such system in Lahore was reportedly destroyed.
Foreign Secretary: Our Response Under Operation Sindoor Was Measured
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed the nation amid the ongoing conflict. He stressed that India’s response had been “precise, measured, and calibrated.”
He blamed Pakistan for initiating the recent escalation and clarified that Indian strikes focused strictly on non-civilian, non-military terror camps.
“The original escalation came from Pakistan on April 22 with the Pahalgam attack,” Misri said. “India’s actions have been restrained and focused only on terrorist targets.”
India Ready to Defend Every Inch
With tensions at a high, the Indian government has made it clear that it won’t tolerate any aggression. The Ministry of Defence reiterated that India is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty. It added that any further provocation from Pakistan will be met with an equally strong response.
The situation remains fluid. But one message is loud and clear—India will act decisively to protect its people and territory.
