Slate's Configurator Lets You Build Your Truck Slate Automotive

April 26, 2025

Slate Automotive is going back to basics—literally. Its newest model is named just Truck. That’s it. But don’t let the minimal name fool you. This upcoming vehicle is all about giving buyers maximum control over what it becomes.

A Truck That Can Turn Into An SUV

At first glance, the Slate Truck might seem bare-bones. But hidden under its simple shell is a platform that offers incredible flexibility. In fact, Slate has confirmed that with the right optional packages, this truck can be transformed into two different SUV shapes.

The company isn’t just offering a few minor tweaks. It’s building a fully modular experience that can reshape the vehicle based on the user’s lifestyle or style preference.

Customization Starts Now—Even Before The Truck Arrives

Though the Slate Truck won’t hit the road until late 2026, the official online configurator is already live. It’s a digital playground for car lovers eager to test out styles, features, and ideas.

From unique door and roof deletes on SUV builds to flashy paint and stripe packages, there’s something for every taste. Slate showcases these features through over two dozen themed builds known as "Starter Packs."

Each one is designed to spark creativity. For example, “The Professional” is a sleek all-black SUV variant. Then there’s “The DJ Set”—a bold pickup version complete with a pink-to-blue wrap and matching stripes.

Accessories That Add Flair and Function

Customization doesn’t stop at the body. The Slate Truck offers a lineup of accessories to enhance both appearance and utility. These include roof racks and quirky dashboard decorations dubbed “Slatelets.”

Users can tweak suspension height too—either lifting or lowering it—to reflect their ideal driving style. This nods to the iconic mini-truck scenes of the 1980s.

Other add-ons like tablet mounts, plush carpet mats, and handy auxiliary switches give drivers more ways to personalize their interiors.

Affordable Dreams, But No Price Tags Yet

Slate has yet to reveal detailed pricing for all these customizations. What’s known for now is the company’s ambitious target: a starting price below $20,000 after incentives.

This wallet-friendly promise could shake up the truck market—especially with so many features in the pipeline. While smaller touches like the Slatelets are expected to be budget-friendly, bigger upgrades like SUV conversion kits and adjustable suspensions may come at a higher cost.

Final pricing will be shared closer to the truck’s official launch in the last quarter of 2026.

The Road Ahead For Slate Truck

With its bold vision and open approach to design, Slate’s Truck isn’t just another utility vehicle. It’s a customizable canvas for drivers who want more than a one-size-fits-all ride.

Whether you're into classic pickups or funky, future-forward SUVs, this upcoming vehicle might just offer the best of both worlds.
