Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have returned to Romania to check in with the police, following a trip to Florida that led to a new criminal investigation. The brothers, who are facing human trafficking and organized crime charges in Romania, deny all wrongdoing and claim they are innocent.
Andrew Tate, known for promoting sexist content online, spoke to reporters outside his home in Bucharest. He said they are determined to clear their names in court. "After everything we've been through, we deserve a fair trial that proves we did nothing wrong," he stated.
The brothers, who hold dual British and American citizenship, were arrested in Romania in December 2022. Authorities accused them of trafficking women and sexually exploiting them through violence and intimidation. They were placed in police custody, later moved to house arrest, and then released under judicial supervision.
After the Romanian prosecutors lifted their travel ban last month, the brothers flew to Florida. However, their visit quickly drew legal attention. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a criminal investigation into the Tates, saying the state has “zero tolerance for people who abuse women and girls.”
Andrew Tate shared a photo of their flight back to Romania on social media, writing: “Innocent men don’t run. THEY CLEAR THEIR NAME IN COURT.” He also posted about spending $185,000 on a private jet to cross the Atlantic just to sign a single document in Romania, mocking the situation.
The brothers must regularly report to the police as part of their legal requirements. Their next check-in is scheduled for March 24.
In addition to their legal troubles in Romania and Florida, the Tates are also under investigation in the UK. Authorities there are examining allegations of human trafficking and sex crimes, which the brothers deny. Andrew Tate is also facing a civil lawsuit in the UK from four women who accuse him of rape and coercive control.
The brothers’ defense attorney criticized Florida’s Attorney General, accusing him of acting unethically and seeking publicity.
Despite the mounting legal pressure, Andrew Tate continues to deny all accusations, insisting the claims against them are false. He maintains they will fight the charges and prove their innocence in court.
