If you're planning a special Valentine's Day getaway, the West Coast might be your best bet. A recent ranking of the top U.S. cities for February 14, 2025, highlights several West Coast destinations as ideal places for romance.

The study analyzed 100 of the largest cities in the country, looking at factors such as the number of florists, the likelihood of rain, and the cost of a romantic dinner. Based on these criteria, San Francisco emerged as the top city for Valentine’s Day celebrations.

San Francisco earned an overall score of 76.08 and ranked high in multiple categories, including affordability, activities, and gift options. The city offers a variety of budget-friendly restaurants, florists, and gift shops, making it easy for couples to celebrate without breaking the bank. It is also one of the most walkable cities in the country, perfect for romantic strolls. Additionally, San Francisco has the highest number of card shops and chocolate stores per capita, making it a great place to find the perfect Valentine's gift.

Following closely behind, Seattle and San Diego secured second and third place on the list. Seattle ranked among the top 10 in affordability and activities but had one drawback—its weather forecast for Valentine’s Day in 2025 is among the worst. Meanwhile, San Diego offers a great mix of romantic experiences, beautiful weather, and scenic waterfront spots.

Las Vegas and Denver rounded out the top five. Las Vegas is known for its exciting nightlife and entertainment options, while Denver offers a mix of city charm and outdoor adventure.

Even though Miami ranked only 20th overall, it stood out as the number one city for both romantic activities and gift accessibility. Meanwhile, Fremont, California, which ranked 38th, had the best budget-friendly options for Valentine’s Day celebrations.
