Alberta Health Services (AHS) is cautioning the public regarding the serious health dangers linked to uninspected meat items sold by eight food establishments in Calgary. These businesses include Alta Halal Meat, Bismillah Meat and Grocery, Madina Halal Meat and Grocery, Maher Fresh Halal Meat, Mediterranean Halal Meats and Deli, Mustafa Madani Halal Meat and Grocery, Shawdesi Bazaar, and Shawdesi Foods and Catering.

AHS advises individuals who have purchased meat or meat-containing products from these establishments to discard them immediately, including any leftovers from meals consumed there. Additionally, customers are urged to remain vigilant for symptoms of gastrointestinal bacterial infections, such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.

Closure orders have been issued to the aforementioned businesses following inspections that confirmed the presence of uninspected meat products. AHS is collaborating with several agencies, including the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, RCMP, Alberta Health, and Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation, in an investigation into this matter.
