As travel prices to Europe soar, many travelers are turning to more affordable destinations for their summer vacations. With the cost of an average European trip climbing by 38% this year, reaching about $10,346, people are seeking alternatives that offer both value and the same memorable experiences.

Travelers are now prioritizing destinations that are both budget-friendly and rich in culture and beauty. According to travel data, several European spots are quickly becoming favorites for those looking to save money while still enjoying their trip.

These countries provide a great mix of rich culture, stunning scenery, and more affordable pricing compared to the traditional European hotspots like France and Italy.

With costs rising, travelers have become more strategic and cautious about their planning. Flexibility is more important than ever. Many travelers are now opting for "Cancel for Any Reason" (CFAR) coverage, which allows them to change their plans if needed. This type of coverage has seen a significant rise, with 12% of travelers choosing it in 2025, compared to just 5% last year.

Health concerns are also a top priority for travelers. More than half (52%) of those traveling this summer worry about getting sick or injured during their trip. Since most U.S. health insurance plans do not cover medical care abroad, travel medical insurance has become essential. Emergency medical claims have made up 27% of all paid travel insurance claims in 2024, the highest of any category.

With rising costs, travelers are taking extra precautions to ensure their trips are both affordable and safe. As a result, more people are exploring new European destinations that offer a great experience without breaking the bank.
