McCanna 'Mac' Sinise, the son of actor Gary Sinise, has passed away at the age of 33. The Gary Sinise Foundation announced the sad news on their official Instagram account, sharing a photo of Mac with the caption, "In Honor & Memory of McCanna 'Mac' Sinise 1990-2024."

Gary Sinise, known for his role in CSI: NY, shared a heartfelt message on the foundation's website, revealing that his son had been battling a rare form of cancer called Chordoma for five-and-a-half years. Sinise expressed the family's profound grief and the difficulty of losing a child, extending his sympathy to others who have experienced similar losses.

Mac's cancer journey was marked by resilience and determination. Despite facing numerous surgeries and ultimately becoming paralyzed from the chest down, he continued to pursue his passions. He loved music and completed a full album titled "Mac Sinise: Resurrection and Revival" in the year leading up to his death. Mac also taught himself to play the harmonica during this time.

Gary Sinise shared that Mac's battle with cancer was akin to the soldier in the film "1917," who refuses to give up despite facing constant challenges. He described Mac as an inspiration and a light in their lives, expressing gratitude for the love and support from family and friends.

Mac is survived by his parents, Gary and Moira Sinise, and his two sisters, Sophie and Ella. Gary Sinise concluded his message with a touching tribute to his son, expressing eternal love and gratitude for the time they had together.
