This revelation follows closely after the appearance of two Samsung technologies, Flex Magic and Flex Magic Pixel, in the European Union Intellectual Property Office's trademark registration portal about a month ago. Both were described as "expandable screens for smartphones," hinting at a potential common thread with the newly uncovered US patent.

The patent, first brought to light by Website Rating in collaboration with tipster David Kowalski from xleaks7, is documented in a PDF specifying the United States Patent Application Publication and identifies Samsung Display as the applicant. The filing date for this patent is June 22, 2023. Notably, the patent details Samsung's pursuit of a novel display technology that can extend from multiple directions.

The key innovation highlighted in the patent revolves around preventing the spring-back action of a metal layer at the end of a sliding display. This innovation addresses concerns related to panel cracking due to repeated contact between the metal layer and the display panel, enhancing the device's durability.
