Winter weather travel advisories have been issued by Environment Canada for a significant portion of southern Ontario, along with snow squall warnings for communities situated near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

Anticipating a transition from rain to snow later today as colder air infiltrates southern Ontario, the weather agency cautions that snowfall in various southern Ontario regions may intensify, accompanied by wind gusts reaching up to 60 kilometers per hour, potentially causing blowing snow in specific areas.

Highlighting the potential hazards of sudden weather changes, Environment Canada emphasizes the likelihood of slippery conditions on roads and sidewalks due to icy surfaces, advising caution for travelers.

In the Greater Toronto Area, the weather agency projects a potential snowfall of up to eight centimeters, with the added risk of reduced visibility as a consequence of the weather conditions.

For communities near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, Environment Canada extends snow squall warnings, indicating the possibility of local snowfall reaching up to 20 centimeters and wind gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour in those areas. The warnings underscore the need for residents in these regions to stay informed and take precautions as the winter weather unfolds.
