Canada's Express Entry system recently issued invitations to skilled immigrants to apply for permanent residency under the General Category. On April 23, 2024, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted the latest Express Entry draw, inviting eligible candidates to apply for various programs such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
During this draw, the lowest-ranked candidate received a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 529. A total of 2,095 Express Entry candidates were invited to apply for permanent residency. The tie-breaking rule was applied based on the date and time of submission, with a cut-off date of November 8, 2023, at 17:50:29 UTC.
Candidates in the Express Entry system are evaluated on a 1,200-point scale using the CRS, which considers factors like age, education, work experience, and language proficiency. In cases where multiple candidates have the same CRS score, the tie-breaker is determined by the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profile.
Compared to the previous draw on April 10, 2024, the cut-off score for Express Entry candidates dropped by 20 points, from 549 to 529. This reduction in the cut-off score indicates a lower threshold for eligibility in the latest draw.
Express Entry is a key immigration pathway in Canada, streamlining the process for skilled workers, professionals, and tradespeople to obtain permanent residency. The Canadian government sets immigration targets and adjusts the CRS cut-off score for each draw based on various factors, including the number of candidates invited and the overall immigration goals.
Overall, the recent Express Entry draw reflects Canada's commitment to attracting skilled immigrants and meeting its immigration targets. By inviting eligible candidates to apply for permanent residency, Canada aims to strengthen its workforce and contribute to economic growth and diversity in the country.
