In Brownsburg-Chatham, Quebec, a man in his 60s died in a morning crash involving his van and a large cargo truck. The incident occurred roughly 70 kilometres west of Montreal on Quebec Highway 50.

According to Camille Savoie, a spokesperson for the provincial police, emergency services responded to the crash scene around 1:30 a.m. The van reportedly collided with the truck after drifting out of its lane and entering oncoming traffic.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the truck driver emerged unharmed from the collision.

Following the incident, police investigators and collision experts arrived at the scene to piece together the sequence of events leading to the crash. Savoie mentioned that investigators are still trying to ascertain the cause of the van's lane deviation.

The fatal collision highlights the importance of road safety and the potential consequences of drifting out of one's lane while driving. It serves as a reminder for drivers to remain vigilant and focused on the road to prevent such tragic accidents.

Authorities continue their investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding the crash fully. Their findings will likely contribute to efforts aimed at improving road safety measures and preventing similar incidents in the future.
