Amazon has just announced a major update to its popular Prime Day sale. This year, the mega shopping event is getting bigger and better, stretching over four full days—from July 8 through July 11. The sale kicks off at 12:01 a.m. PT on July 8, offering shoppers an extended window to grab deals and discounts.

Four Days of Nonstop Deals

Unlike previous years, when Prime Day lasted only two days, this time Amazon is going all out with a 96-hour shopping spree. That’s double the time for customers to shop for thousands of discounted items, including Amazon-branded electronics, household essentials, fashion, and much more.

New This Year: Daily Deal Drops

One of the standout features this year is the introduction of themed “deal drops” each day. These time-sensitive offers will be refreshed daily and available only while supplies last. This move adds a fresh twist to the sale, encouraging shoppers to check back every day so they don’t miss out.

The daily drop idea also plays into the urgency factor. Limited quantities and changing deals are designed to make customers act fast, turning browsing into buying in just seconds. Amazon has tested similar approaches in past years, including exclusive invite-only deals to make the experience feel more personal and exclusive.

Why Prime Day Matters

Amazon first launched Prime Day in 2015 with two goals: to attract new subscribers to its $139-per-year Prime membership and to promote its own range of products and services. Since then, it has become one of the most anticipated online shopping events of the year.

Over the years, the company has turned Prime Day into a mid-year sales booster, especially helpful during what is typically a slower retail season. In 2019, Amazon stretched the sale to 48 hours and then added a second Prime-style sale in the fall to keep the momentum going.

Not Just for Amazon Shoppers

Prime Day doesn’t just benefit Amazon. Other major retailers often roll out their own deals and flash sales to compete with the e-commerce giant. This year, the extended event is likely to fuel even more competition, as shoppers hunt for the best bargains across multiple platforms.

If you're planning to shop, it's a good idea to keep your wish lists ready and check the site early. With daily themed drops and fast-moving deals, acting quickly could mean scoring big savings.
