Canada and several close allies took a firm stand on Thursday against rising threats from Iran. A group of countries released a joint statement warning about a “growing number” of dangerous actions linked to Iran’s intelligence agencies.

The statement clearly said these countries are united against efforts to “kill, kidnap and harass” people living in North America and Europe.

Countries Standing Together

Alongside Canada, the statement came from major allies including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and several others. These nations expressed concern that Iran is working with global criminal groups to carry out attacks.

According to the statement, Iran’s intelligence forces are targeting journalists, activists, Jewish communities, and both current and former government officials.

While the statement didn’t name specific attacks, it made one thing clear: these actions break international rules and hurt the safety of their citizens. The countries asked Iran to stop all such behavior immediately.

Canada’s Actions Against Iran

This isn’t the first time Canada has taken action. Back in 2022, Canadian officials declared that top Iranian leaders were not welcome in the country. That included members of the government and those working in Iran’s security forces.

Canada made that decision due to Iran’s role in terrorism and human rights violations.

Just last month, Canada’s border agency confirmed that three senior members of the Iranian regime had been told to leave the country. One of them has already been removed.

Concerns About Security Growing

As tensions rise in the Middle East, many Canadians are keeping a closer eye on the activities of Iran’s government representatives in the country.

Canada’s border security team says it is working closely with partners at home and abroad. They regularly share key information to protect the country from any national security risks.

Canada shut down its diplomatic office in Iran in 2012 and hasn’t reopened it since. The government continues to watch Iran’s actions very closely.
