Anne Hathaway drew attention at a recent film event in Shanghai, where she appeared in a soft, flowing gown that reminded many of her earlier on-screen style. She attended the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 on April 10, joined by her co-star Meryl Streep.
The event marked another major step in the promotion of the much-anticipated sequel, which continues the story of the popular 2006 film.
A Dress That Stood Out
Anne wore a pastel pink gown designed by Susan Fang. The dress featured layers of ruffles that created a light, floral look. Its soft colours included hints of blue and white, giving it a delicate finish.
The gown had thin straps and a flowing skirt that moved easily as she walked. The overall design gave her a graceful and eye-catching presence on the red carpet.
She paired the outfit with clear high heels that had silver tips. She also wore diamond earrings that added a touch of sparkle. Her hair fell naturally around her shoulders, styled with bangs that framed her face. Her makeup included a smoky eye and a glossy lip, completing the look.
Meryl Streep Joins the Spotlight
Meryl Streep also made a strong impression at the event. She wore a blue dress with a fitted shape and structured shoulders. A black ribbon around the waist added detail to the outfit.
She completed her look with large sunglasses, a brooch, sheer stockings, and black shoes. Together, the two stars brought style and elegance to the premiere.
A Look Back at the Film
The upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada has already created excitement among fans. The original film became a favourite for its story and memorable characters.
Production for the sequel began last year, with several returning cast members. Anne reflected on her experience working on the first film, saying, "I was still a 22-year-old mess of a human when I made The Devil Wears Prada."

She added, "And so, we’ve grown up together, and I’m so happy for them and how their lives are unfolding."
Anne also shared how fans continue to connect with her over the years. "Like, this crazy thing where people just graduate from high school and they just send me their graduation announcements. People send me their wedding invitations. It’s so very sweet. And I feel bad, because I can never do anything with them, because I’m not Taylor Swift–level organized. Maybe someday."
Fashion Meets Film Promotion
Anne’s wardrobe for the film’s promotion has drawn attention for its style and creativity. Her stylist, Erin Walsh, spoke about the approach behind the looks.
"I’m aware of the eyeballs on it," Erin said. "But I feel like I’ve been training my whole life to do this. There’s always pressure: It’s what we do and what we love."
She added, "It's been an exercise of joy – having the opportunity to tie in layers of Andy [Sachs] with Annie, and playing with all of the different designers."
Erin also spoke about a wider trend in fashion. "If you look at all the major houses that have these new [designers] leading them, there’s this idea of leaning into joy, and clothes that make you feel like the supernova version of yourself. It’s going to be joyful, irreverent, empowering, confident – and strong."
