Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealand's Erin Routliffe are pushing forward at the U.S. Open, keeping their hopes of back-to-back victories alive in the women's doubles competition. The pair, who are the reigning champions, secured their place in the quarterfinals on Sunday by overcoming Italy’s Angelica Moratelli and Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian with a solid 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory.
The match was far from easy. Dabrowski and Routliffe were forced to dig deep, especially in the second set. After winning the first set 7-5, they found themselves in a tight spot in the second. However, the defending champions managed to clinch the final two games, pushing the set into a tiebreaker. During the tiebreaker, they capitalized on errors from their opponents, which ultimately secured their win.

Dabrowski and Routliffe made the most of their opportunities, converting three out of eight break points. They also showcased their strong play by hitting 33 winners throughout the match, proving why they are the top-seeded team in the tournament.

Their next challenge is yet to be determined, as they await the outcome of the match between Great Britain’s Harriet Dart and France’s Diane Parry, and Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova and Taiwan’s Hao-Ching Chan. Regardless of which team they face, Dabrowski and Routliffe will need to bring their A-game to continue their journey toward defending their title.

The duo's performance thus far has been impressive, and fans are eagerly watching to see if they can maintain their momentum and secure another championship victory. With their blend of experience and skill, Dabrowski and Routliffe remain strong contenders in the tournament, and their quarterfinal match is sure to be one to watch.

As the U.S. Open progresses, the pressure mounts, but Dabrowski and Routliffe have shown they can rise to the occasion. Their teamwork and determination have carried them this far, and they'll need to rely on those strengths in the next round as they fight to retain their crown.
