In 2025, Oceania Cruises will send its 1,250-guest ship, the Riviera, to Alaska for a season of exploration. Running from May through September, the ship will offer itineraries lasting between seven and twelve days. Departing from ports such as Seattle, Vancouver, and Whittier, passengers will get a chance to discover the beauty of Alaska’s wilderness, commonly referred to as “The Last Frontier.” Onboard, guests will benefit from the expertise of a naturalist, who will share insights about Alaska’s landscapes, wildlife, and culture, enriching their experience.
A standout feature of the Riviera’s Alaskan voyages is the variety of culinary-themed shore excursions. These experiences include unique activities such as enjoying an Alaskan-style brunch or taking part in a crabbing adventure. For food enthusiasts, these excursions provide a taste of the local cuisine and culture, offering a deeper connection to the region.

Families travelling aboard the Riviera will also find something special with Oceania’s Alaska Explorer Youth program. This program, designed for children aged 5 to 12, offers engaging activities for young travellers, making the cruise a fun and educational experience for the whole family. Beyond the cruise itself, guests have the option to extend their adventure by booking a pre-or post-cruise land program. These extended stays include trips to incredible destinations like Denali National Park, giving visitors even more opportunities to explore Alaska’s vast beauty.

Frank A. Del Rio, president of Oceania Cruises, emphasized the unique experience the Riviera offers in Alaska. He explained that the ship’s smaller size, 30 to 50 percent smaller than other premium vessels sailing in the region, allows Oceania to access less-visited, more remote ports. This creates a more immersive experience for passengers, allowing them to explore hidden gems of Alaska that larger ships might bypass.

Del Rio also highlighted the luxurious nature of Oceania’s offerings. The smaller, ultra-premium ship provides an elegant and comfortable setting, offering a perfect contrast to the rugged outdoor adventures that await guests in Alaska. From breathtaking landscapes to once-in-a-lifetime excursions, Oceania Cruises aims to provide travellers with an enriching, immersive journey through one of the world’s most stunning destinations.

Whether passengers are interested in local food, wildlife, or family activities, the Riviera promises an unforgettable Alaskan adventure. With a range of excursions, onboard educational experiences, and the opportunity to explore remote ports, this 2025 cruise season promises to be an extraordinary way to experience the beauty and wonder of Alaska.
