The Toronto Raptors have officially signed guard Jahmi'us Ramsey, solidifying their roster ahead of the upcoming training camp. While the team did not disclose the details of the contract, Ramsey’s addition brings the Raptors’ roster to the league's maximum of 21 players, ensuring that they are fully prepared as they gear up for the new season.
Ramsey, a 23-year-old former standout from Texas Tech, had a brief stint with the Raptors last season, where he made an impact in limited appearances. Throughout seven games, he averaged 6.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 17.3 minutes per game. Though his time on the court was short, Ramsey demonstrated his potential to be a valuable player for the team.

In addition to his time with Toronto, Ramsey also showcased his talents in the G League. He split the 2023 season between the Oklahoma City Blue and the Raptors' G League affiliate, Raptors 905. During his 32 games in the G League, Ramsey put up impressive numbers, averaging 20.5 points per game, solidifying his reputation as a strong scorer. His performance in the G League highlighted his ability to develop and improve his game, making him a promising prospect for the Raptors heading into the new season.

Jahmi'us Ramsey entered the NBA as the 43rd overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, selected by the Sacramento Kings. Since then, he has shown steady growth, although his opportunities in the NBA have been somewhat limited. Over his career, which includes time spent with both Sacramento and Toronto, Ramsey has played in 39 NBA games. During these appearances, he has averaged 3.8 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 8.9 minutes per game. While his NBA stats might not leap off the page, his G League performances suggest that he has much more to offer.

At just 23, Ramsey still has plenty of time to develop into a more prominent contributor at the NBA level. The Raptors, who are in the process of building a roster filled with young talent, seem to be the perfect fit for Ramsey’s continued growth. His signing adds depth to a backcourt that includes established players as well as emerging talents, giving the Raptors flexibility as they prepare for the challenges ahead.

The finalization of the Raptors' training camp roster means that the team is now fully set for their preseason preparations. With 21 players on board, the team will begin their journey with a media day scheduled for Monday in Toronto. After that, the Raptors will travel to Montreal to kick off their training camp. This camp will be crucial in determining the final shape of the roster and allowing players like Ramsey to earn a more significant role.

Ramsey’s signing is part of the Raptors’ broader strategy of developing young talent and finding the right pieces to complement their core. As the team continues to evolve under head coach Darko Rajaković, Ramsey’s performance during training camp will be closely watched, and he could emerge as a key player in the Raptors' rotation for the upcoming season.
